The brown pelican, at a distance

Open water at night under a bright moon. Stars flicker, thin clouds drift, and moonlight glitters on the swell. Far out, a small pelican rests on the water. Every so often it lifts off, climbs, glides across the face of the moon, and later comes back low to settle on the water again.
